Referrals

OKI accepts referrals on a continuous basis from referral agencies such as child welfare

organizations, NNADAP workers, community health centres, detox facilities, Recovery

Alberta services and other agencies. Self and family referrals are welcome.

General Admission Criteria:

​

-Clients must be between 14-24 years of age.

-All backgrounds are welcome as long as the client is willing to accept an Indigenous

approach to recovery.

-Clients must have a desire to become abstinent from mood-altering drugs and alcohol

-Clients must be physically and mentally capable of participating in program activities.

​

Exclusion Criteria

​

-Client must not be taking any cannabis prescribed products

-Clients with complex care needs or severe concurrent disorders

-Clients with a history of sexual offences will only be admitted upon approval of the

Program Director or CEO.

-Clients who are pregnant will receive priority admission

Referral workers may access the OKI referral package here on this page

Self or family referrals may complete this form and an OKI staff will assist with

completing the referral package. Self or family referrals may contact OKI by phone or email and an OKI staff will assist in completing the referral package.

Once OKI receives the referral package an acknowledgement email will be sent.

Unsigned referral packages will be returned to the referral worker for a client signature.

OKI staff will review the package and may be in contact should supplemental

information be required. An admission decision will be made within five (5) days. If the

client is accepted for treatment, the referral worker will receive an acceptance letter with

a proposed admission date. The referral worker is expected to acknowledge the letter. If

OKI decides to not admit the client, the referral worker will receive a letter outlining the

reasons for the decision to not admit the client.
